5 of the best Christmas Markets in Europe.

Christmas is one of our favourite times of year and here in Australia we enjoy the beaches and beautiful long Summer days at Christmas.

It’s hard to beat the Winter Wonderland though that is Europe at Christmas time and it’s definitley something that everyone should experience at least once in their life.

The incredible decorations everywhere, the beautiful Christmas markets and if you’re lucky - the snow - all go together to create the most amazing never to be forgotten Christmas experience.

We arrived in heavenly Prague one Christmas to the most magical scene of the fairytale markets and then spent Christmas Day in beautiful Salzburg enjoying the Sound of Music Tour and a ride in a horse drawn sleigh. The children went ice skating and we drank hot chocolates in gorgeous little cafes. Such wonderful memories for my family. To this day, Salzburg remains one of my most favourite cities.

So what are the best Christmas Markets in Europe because lets face it - you can’t go to Europe at Christmas time and not enjoy a glass of gluewien at the Christmas markets.

We have put together our top 5.

1. Salzburg, Austria

Located in Residenzplatz the Salburg Christkindlmarket is full of beautiful Christmas ornaments, handmade crafts, mulled wine in souvenir mugs and of course sausages and pretzels. Right next to the markets on Mozart Square is the ice rink - and don’t forget the horse and carriage ride.
