the accommodation:

Overlooking the Cudgegong Valley and some of Mudgee's best known wineries, this elegant villa offers a lavish escape for large groups. Drive five minutes’ to explore Mudgee or to sample the 20+ cellar doors nearby. Cool down in the saltwater pool or stay cosy by the fireplace – you’ll love Wombadah in any season. Five ensuite bathrooms, central heating and cooling, plus two lounge areas wrapped by an entertainers' deck overlooking the olive groves help to create an idyllic bushland retreat.

.Wombadah' is the original name for the property on which John Tierney, Henry Lawson’s schoolteacher, built his home, which has since been lovingly restored.

Downstairs is a light-filled entrance way that leads to the main lounge, kitchen and dining area. The spacious living room has an oversized corner sofa for leisurely hours watching movies or settling in with a glass of wine by the fireplace. A chef's kitchen has all you need to cook up a feast, with the option of a BBQ on the verandah so head outside to enjoy dinner alfresco, where a table setting and sun loungers overlook the surrounding olive groves and have access to the pool area.

Off to the second zone of the villa—sun loungers and a poolside dining area are ideal for laidback afternoons spent relaxing to birdsong, reading a good book and soaking up the fresh country air. There are four king suites facing the pool, all stylishly furnished with ensuite bathrooms and seating nooks. These rooms open to a large deck on the opposite side where you can wake up and sip your morning coffee with relaxed views and you might even spot a wombat roaming about. From here, a second lounge area can be accessed with a TV and sofas, kitchenette, and large dining table.
